Sharjah24 : Manchester United’s struggles persisted with a 3-1 defeat against Brentford in the sixth round of the English Premier League.

A Difficult return for Bryan Mbeumo

Cameroonian striker Bryan Mbeumo’s return to his former ground at Brentford was far from positive, as United fell to another disappointing loss, deepening the “Red Devils’” woes.

Pressure on manager Amorim

Despite their recent 2-1 win over Chelsea, United suffered their third defeat of the season, leaving them in the bottom half of the table with just seven points from six matches. Pressure continues to mount on Portuguese coach Rúben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag last November.

Early goals from Thiago

Brentford struck early when Jordan Henderson’s long pass found Brazilian forward Thiago, who unleashed a thunderous left-footed strike in the 8th minute. Thiago doubled the lead in the 20th minute, finishing after a rebound from goalkeeper Altay Bayındır.

United’s missed opportunities

Benjamin Šeško pulled one back for United in the 26th minute, scoring his first Premier League goal after a scrappy sequence in the box. United had a chance to equalise when Bruno Fernandes won a penalty, but his 76th-minute effort was saved by goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher.

Brentford seals victory

As United pushed forward for an equaliser, substitute Mathias Jensen struck a stunning long-range effort in stoppage time (90+5) to seal Brentford’s 3-1 win.

History repeats at Brentford

The defeat marks another painful result for United at Brentford, following a 4-0 loss three years ago and a 4-3 defeat last May.
