According to an IOM spokesperson, the vessel was carrying more than 70 people, mainly Sudanese and South Sudanese nationals. It set sail on September 9 from a beach near the town of Kambut and sank the same day.
The IOM reported that 14 survivors were rescued five days later, while 42 people remain missing. The organization continues to monitor the situation and calls for increased international efforts to prevent such tragedies.
