Sharjah 24 – WAM: The United Arab Emirates reasserted full solidarity with Qatar and strongly condemned what it described as a blatant, cowardly Israeli attack during an urgent Human Rights Council debate in Geneva. The UAE called the strike a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of a Gulf Arab state and a UN member, arguing that it breaches international law, the UN Charter, and key human rights principles.

Statement delivered at UN Human Rights Council debate

Jamal Jama Al Musharakh, UAE’s Permanent Representative at the UN in Geneva, delivered the statement during a debate convened at the request of both the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He extended condolences to Qatar over the martyrdom of a member of its Internal Security Force, reinforcing UAE support for Qatar’s security and stability.

GCC security integral, UAE warns of regional escalation

Al Musharakh emphasized that Qatar’s security is inseparable from that of all GCC states. He warned that aggression against one member destabilises Gulf collective security and cautioned that continued hostile rhetoric risks pushing the region into dangerous pathways.

Appeal for de-escalation and respect for international norms

In closing, the UAE stressed that the region cannot afford further escalation, hate speech, or inflammatory rhetoric. It underlined the need for upholding the UN Charter and restoring calm and stability across the region.
