Sharjah 24 – WAM: Acting on the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a UAE delegation officially inaugurated the Islamic Academy in Tokmok, Kyrgyz Republic, on Monday, in the presence of President Sadyr Japarov.

Strong leadership support for the initiative

The project enjoys the backing of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. It is also under the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council (IHPC), and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Erth Zayed Philanthropies.

Inspired by the humanitarian vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the opening of the academy demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to supporting higher and postgraduate education and promoting the core values of Islam.

High-level attendance and international appreciation

The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of Muhanna Obaid Al Muhairi, Deputy Director General of Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Dr. Khaled Salem Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Office of Civilisation and Promotion of Human Values, alongside several officials from both nations.

President Sadyr Japarov praised the deep ties between Kyrgyzstan and the UAE and expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s humanitarian and developmental efforts in his country. He highlighted that the academy would open new doors for thousands of young people seeking higher education.

A state-of-the-art educational facility

The Islamic Academy, located 60 kilometers from the Kyrgyz capital, was constructed under the supervision of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation. It features modern classrooms, advanced learning resources, and facilities designed to enhance university-level education and postgraduate training.

Built at a cost exceeding $5 million (AED 18 million), the academy will provide both free and fee-based education. Its curriculum focuses on fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and authentic Islamic teachings centered on tolerance, mercy, and justice.

A beacon of knowledge and values

Muhanna Obaid Al Muhairi commended the academy’s mission to graduate individuals capable of enriching society through values rooted in Islam’s tolerant teachings. He emphasized that the academy would serve as a platform for cultural and intellectual exchange and as a model of enlightened knowledge.

He also noted that the academy is scheduled to begin operations in the current academic year, reflecting the UAE’s ongoing commitment to investing in education as a pillar of national and global development.

Continuing Sheikh Zayed’s legacy through education

The UAE’s educational initiatives, led by the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, continue to uphold the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed, who believed education is a lasting gift and a cornerstone of progress.

Through these initiatives, the Foundation supports students at all educational levels—basic, university, and postgraduate—empowering them to lead their nations toward sustainable development and prosperity.
