UAE President visits key landmarks in Karabakh

Sharjah 24 – WAM: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited several historical and natural landmarks in the city of Shusha, located in the Karabakh region, during his official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. He was accompanied by the President of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Ilham Aliyev.

Tour of historic Shusha Fortress

The tour began with a visit to the Shusha Fortress, a structure dating back to the 1750s. The fortress is widely regarded as a historical and cultural symbol of Azerbaijan.

Visit to Shusha Mosque

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also visited Shusha Mosque, which is considered one of the city's most prominent cultural and religious landmarks.

Exploring the Jidir Duzu Plain

The itinerary included a stop at the Jidir Duzu Plain, a notable natural landmark and tourist attraction. The area is known for hosting horse races, equestrian events, and a variety of cultural and sporting activities.

Honouring Azerbaijani cultural icons

The President also visited monuments dedicated to prominent Azerbaijani figures in literature and the arts.

Visit to the National Carpet Museum branch

The tour concluded with a visit to the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan, which showcases the region’s rich textile heritage.
