He was welcomed by Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Commander‑in‑Chief of Dubai Civil Defence, along with senior officers. His Highness reviewed the General Command’s Strategic Framework and Drivers of a Sustainable Future for the Safety of Life and Property 2033, which aims to enhance Dubai’s excellence in civil defence services through sustainable infrastructure, smart sensor deployment, and aligning with international standards.
Sheikh Hamdan praised Civil Defence not only for its emergency response capabilities but also for its role in building an integrated system rooted in prevention, public awareness, and a culture of safety. He noted that the institution’s work is essential to a safer, more sustainable future.
During the visit, His Highness was briefed on several initiatives and innovations, including the Billion Readiness campaign to train one billion people globally on fire safety. He also saw the Hope Convoys initiative, which supports fire services in resource-limited countries by providing infrastructure and safety equipment. Technological demonstrations included the four‑legged Explorer Robot using LiDAR to map smoke‑filled buildings, a robotic arm to improve firefighter efficiency, a 4,500‑Wabel firefighting robot that can carry heavy loads, and Shaheen, a drone designed to combat fires in high‑rise buildings.
His Highness concluded by stating the UAE’s ongoing commitment to investing in Dubai Civil Defence’s capabilities and resources. He reiterated that civil defence must always be worthy of public trust and continue to set global benchmarks for protection, rapid response, and innovation.
