Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, launched the Dubai Mallathon, a new community initiative aimed at encouraging daily physical activity during the summer months.

Fitness in malls from 1–31 August

Running from 1 to 31 August, the initiative will turn Dubai’s shopping malls into morning fitness tracks from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m., offering residents a comfortable indoor environment for walking and running.

Seven major malls participating

Designated tracks will be set up in seven major malls: Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai Marina Mall.

Supporting key strategic goals

Dubai Mallathon supports the Year of Community, the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 33, which aim to improve wellbeing and promote cultural, environmental, and social engagement across the emirate.

Making fitness a lifestyle

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the importance of incorporating fitness into everyday life. He stated:

“With the Dubai Mallathon, we’re turning familiar spaces into places that inspire movement, connection, and better habits.”

He called on the public to participate, saying: “Every step you take moves us closer towards a healthier Dubai. This is a shared journey.”

Inclusive and motivational design

Organised by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Mallathon welcomes all segments of society—from children to senior citizens and mall employees. Features include fitness-tracking systems, health awareness stations, children’s areas, and guided stretching and warm-up sessions

Making use of indoor spaces

The initiative seeks to utilise air-conditioned mall interiors as practical, safe alternatives for exercise during Dubai’s hot summer. This helps eliminate weather-related barriers to staying active.

Walk for better health programme

The initiative also includes the ‘Walk for Better Health’ programme, organised by the Community Development Authority in partnership with participating malls, further expanding access to wellness opportunities.

Free registration and incentives

Participation is free of charge via www.dubaimallathon.ae. Registrants will receive a digital card confirming enrolment.

Lifestyle offers and retail partnerships

Retail and restaurant partners will provide exclusive deals promoting balanced eating and healthy living, supporting participants in adopting long-term wellness habits.
