ICO launches AED 8 million aid projects in Syria

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The International Charity Organisation (ICO) has announced the launch of a comprehensive package of development, service, and relief projects in Syria, valued at AED 8 million. These efforts are part of its continued humanitarian response to support communities impacted by the ongoing conflict.

Projects focused on essential services

Dr Khaled Abdul Wahab Al Khaja, Secretary-General of ICO and head of the visiting delegation, stated that the projects include the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of schools and mosques, drilling wells for clean water, sponsoring orphans and vulnerable families, providing healthcare, and distributing food parcels and dates.

Aligning with sustainable development goals

The projects reflect ICO’s mission to enhance sustainable development and improve the quality of life for those in need. Dr. Al Khaja emphasized that the ICO ensures direct oversight to guarantee that aid reaches the intended beneficiaries effectively.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision and leadership in supporting humanitarian causes. Dr Al Khaja expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, and to the UAE’s generous donors for their continuous support, which fuels the success of these humanitarian efforts.

Ongoing project implementation

He confirmed that ICO has already started executing several projects, including well maintenance, school and mosque rehabilitation, and large-scale food aid distribution. These efforts are expected to benefit thousands of families in the most affected regions.
