UN condemns deadly strikes on Gaza’s Nasser Hospital

Sharjah 24 – WAM: UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the recent deadly airstrikes on Nasser Hospital in Gaza, urging a swift and impartial investigation into the incident.

Guterres highlights danger to medical staff and journalists

“These latest horrific killings highlight the extreme risks that medical personnel and journalists face as they carry out their vital work amid this brutal conflict,” said UN Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric.

Call for Protection of Humanitarian Workers

The Secretary-General emphasised that medical workers and journalists must be able to perform their duties safely and without interference, in full compliance with international humanitarian law.

Renewed plea for ceasefire and humanitarian access

Guterres reiterated his call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, unrestricted humanitarian access throughout the enclave, and the unconditional release of all hostages.

Mounting death toll in Gaza

According to local health authorities, the death toll in Gaza has now exceeded 61,000.
