UAE mediates Russia-Ukraine swap of 292 captives

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The United Arab Emirates has successfully mediated a new prisoner exchange between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, involving 292 captives — 146 from each side. This latest effort brings the total number of exchanged captives through UAE mediation to 4,641.

UAE’s mediation recognised by both sides

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its gratitude to both Russia and Ukraine for cooperating in this process, noting that such collaboration reflects their trust in the UAE and appreciation for its role in advancing efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis.

Seventeenth successful mediation effort

According to the Ministry, this marks the seventeenth successful mediation carried out by the UAE, underscoring the strong diplomatic relationships the country maintains with both Russia and Ukraine.

Commitment to peaceful resolution and humanitarian support

The UAE reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting peaceful solutions to the conflict and to alleviating its humanitarian impact. The Ministry emphasised that the UAE will continue to back all efforts aimed at easing tensions and promoting stability in the region.
