UAE mediates largest Russia-Ukraine captive exchange

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The United Arab Emirates has successfully mediated a new exchange of captives between Russia and Ukraine, marking the largest such operation since the beginning of the conflict. The exchange involved a total of 538 individuals, including 246 Ukrainian captives, 246 Russian captives, 31 wounded Ukrainians, and 15 wounded Russians. This brings the total number of captives exchanged through UAE efforts to 3,771.

MoFA expresses gratitude to Russia and Ukraine

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its appreciation to both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine for their cooperation, noting that their trust highlights the UAE’s pivotal role in supporting peaceful crisis resolution.

This fourteenth successful mediation underscores the UAE's strong and distinguished diplomatic relationships with both countries. It also demonstrates the nation’s continued commitment to international peace-building efforts.
