UAE sends medical aid to combat cholera outbreak in Chad

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The United Arab Emirates has dispatched 30 tonnes of medical supplies, including emergency medicines, to the Republic of Chad to help contain the cholera outbreak.

UAE's global humanitarian commitment

This initiative reflects the UAE’s leading role in supporting healthcare across Africa and its swift response to prevent disease spread. Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, emphasized the country’s commitment to addressing health challenges worldwide in coordination with international organizations.

WHO warning on cholera spread

Dr Al Ameri noted the World Health Organisation’s recent warning about the worsening global cholera situation, with over 390,000 cases and 4,332 deaths reported in 31 countries this year, including Chad.

Continued support and cooperation

The UAE Aid Agency plans to maintain its humanitarian programs aligned with the nation's international policy, focusing on relief, recovery, and support to vulnerable communities through partnerships with global and local entities for sustainable impact.
