World Hepatitis Day 2025
Marking World Hepatitis Day 2025 on July 28, MoHaP highlighted the theme “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” emphasizing the importance of awareness, prevention, screening, and comprehensive healthcare services to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.
Scaling up quality healthcare
Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, stated that MoHaP is intensifying efforts in cooperation with national health bodies to deliver top-quality care, expand screening and treatment, and apply best international practices.
Longstanding commitment since 1991
Dr Al Rand noted that since 1991, the UAE has taken significant steps, including incorporating the hepatitis B vaccine into the national immunisation programme, achieving 98% coverage—establishing the UAE as a leader in preventive healthcare.

The UAE’s anti-hepatitis strategy revolves around four pillars including raising community awareness, cross-sectoral collaboration and optimal resource use, developing evidence-based policies, and implementing proactive preventive measures.
