Sharjah 24: Sharjah Camel Racing Club hosted Sharjah Summer Sports participants at Al Madam Cultural and Sports Club.
The visit included a field trip to Al Dhaid Camel Racecourse, an explanation of camel preparation methods for racing, and a workshop to teach participants about the parts and equipment of camel riding. A theoretical and practical presentation was given about camel riding, its equipment, and parts. Participants were given a practical explanation and demonstration of camel riding methods, methods of preparing camels for racing, and a display of camel tools and supplies from the past and present.
The club’s mission
Visitors were received by Khalid Matar Al Tunaiji and Mohammed Awad Khasouni Al Ketbi, members of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club's Board of Directors. Participants were briefed on the club's mission and various activities, the races and festivals it organises, and the significant role it plays in enriching the sport of forefathers and grandfathers, above all the financial and moral support His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has given to camel racing.
Combining efforts
Khalid Matar Al Tunaiji emphasised that the Sharjah Camel Racing Club seeks to strengthen cooperation with clubs and the community in order to discover ways through which efforts can be combined to provide new generations with knowledge of camel racing and preserve this traditional sport.
