UAE wins two AFC medical awards

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Two doctors from the UAE were honoured at the fourth edition of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Awards for their outstanding contributions to sports medicine in the region.

Golden awards for UAE medical professionals

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Golden Award for Medical Excellence was awarded to Dr Mourad Ghrairi, Director of the FIFA Medical Centre in Dubai, and the late Dr Abdullah Hassan Baroon, former UAE national team doctor.

Both were recognised for over 25 years of dedicated service and excellence in their medical fields.

Recognition of service and expertise

The awards, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, celebrated the doctors' commitment to providing top-tier medical care that supports player health and peak performance.

Honouring lifelong contributions to football

Coinciding with the 8th AFC Medical Conference, the awards acknowledged not only individual achievement but also the impact of medical professionals on the game’s growth and well-being of its athletes.

Additional awards presented

In addition to the UAE honourees, 13 other professionals were presented with the AFC Distinguished Service Awards in Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories, recognising their long-term dedication and influence in sports medicine across Asia.
