Dust clouds rise along Lima’s coast

Clouds of dust and sand were seen rising from coastal cliffs in Lima following the tremor. Despite the strength of the quake, there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage.

Landslides reported in surrounding districts

Authorities confirmed that landslides occurred in several nearby districts, though the full extent of the impact is still being assessed.

Epicenter southwest of Callao

According to the Geophysical Institute of Peru, the earthquake occurred at 11:35 a.m. local time, with the epicenter located about 30 kilometers southwest of the port city of Callao.
