Sharjah 24 – AFP: Carlos Alcaraz staged a remarkable comeback from two sets down to defeat Jannik Sinner in a thrilling French Open final on Sunday. After five hours and 29 minutes, the Spaniard triumphed 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (10-2), winning his fifth Grand Slam title.

Still unbeaten in Slam finals

The 22-year-old remains perfect in Grand Slam finals and ended Sinner’s 20-match winning streak in majors.

Longest final in Roland Garros history

It was the longest final ever at Roland Garros and Alcaraz’s first comeback from two sets down, making him the third youngest to win five Slams.

Sinner just misses third straight major

Sinner was close to a third consecutive Grand Slam title but couldn’t close out the match despite holding three championship points.

Battle of a new generation

The match was the first major final between players born in the 2000s. Alcaraz now leads their head-to-head 8–5.
