Signing of hydrogen energy cooperation agreement
During the meeting with Foshan government officials, H.H. Sheikh Saud witnessed the signing of a hydrogen cooperation agreement between Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and the Foshan Institute of Environment and Energy Technology (FIEET). This follows the broader agreement signed with Guangdong Province during His Highness Sheikh Saud’s visit to China in November.
Goals of the strategic cooperation agreement
The agreement, signed by Esmaeel Hasan Alblooshi, RAKTA Director-General, and Professor Wang Ziyuan, President of FIEET, seeks to deepen innovation in hydrogen energy. It will leverage both parties' strengths to align with strategic development goals in the hydrogen sector, including technological and industrial cooperation.
RAK’s commitment to sustainability and innovation
His Highness Sheikh Saud said, “This agreement between Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority and Foshan Institute of Environment and Energy Technology is a significant step forward in our efforts to explore sustainable and innovative energy solutions." He affirmed Ras Al Khaimah’s dedication to fostering partnerships in technology and sustainable development, particularly with regions in Guangdong Province.
Strengthening UAE-China relations
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Saud warmly welcomed the delegations and highlighted the enduring friendship between the UAE and China. He expressed Ras Al Khaimah’s eagerness to deepen cooperation in technology, industry, and sustainable development, underscoring the emirate’s vision of adopting advanced technologies and international collaboration.
Areas of future cooperation
Discussions between the parties explored potential areas for bilateral investment and collaboration. Mayor Bai Tao thanked His Highness Sheikh Saud for the hospitality and praised the emirate’s achievements in economic and cultural development.
Focus of the agreement
The cooperation will promote hydrogen-powered public transport in Ras Al Khaimah and support clean energy infrastructure and green hydrogen supply systems. Joint efforts will also include research and industrialisation of hydrogen technologies such as electrolysers and fuel cells, and the establishment of platforms for clean energy exchange.
RAKTA's perspective on the partnership
RAKTA Director-General Esmaeel Hasan Alblooshi noted, “We are proud to enter into this strategic partnership with our counterparts in Foshan... By harnessing our complementary strengths, we aim to build a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship that supports hydrogen energy development in both countries.”
Meeting with Guangzhou delegation
Later, His Highness Sheikh Saud also welcomed a government delegation from Guangzhou led by Vice Mayor Chen Jie. Talks focused on strengthening ties with Guangzhou and building upon the RAK-Guangdong agreement, covering sectors such as the digital economy, smart cities, tourism, and advanced manufacturing.
