Sheikh Saud made these remarks during a reception with a delegation from the Lahti Regional Development Company (LADEC Ltd.), representing the Lahti Region of Finland. The meeting was held in the presence of Tuula Yrjölä, Finland’s Ambassador to the UAE. Discussions focused on deepening the bonds of friendship and exploring opportunities for economic and investment cooperation.
During the meeting, the RAK Ruler reiterated Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to expanding international partnerships and fostering innovation through knowledge exchange. He highlighted the Emirate’s welcoming investment environment and the opportunities available for Finnish companies to establish and expand their operations in the region.
Following the discussions, H.H. Sheikh Saud witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Ras Al Khaimah and Finland’s Lahti Region. The agreement aims to promote collaboration in circular economy practices, sustainable materials, green technologies, startups, university-led research and development, and sustainable construction.
The MoU outlines areas of mutual interest, including bio-based innovations, waste management, recycling technologies, smart city initiatives, and e-mobility solutions. The agreement was signed by Mohammed Omran Al Shamsi, Special Advisor to Sheikh Saud, and Jarno Saarinen, Director of Entrepreneurship and Business Development Services for the Lahti Region.
The Finnish delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality, emphasizing that the MoU marks a major milestone in building a long-term and fruitful partnership. They highlighted the growing depth of cooperation between the UAE and Finland, which is set to unlock new avenues of innovation, sustainability, and shared prosperity.
