SCC’s Health Committee visits Saudi German Hospital

Sharjah 24: As part of the Sharjah Consultative Council’s (SCC) commitment to strengthening engagement with private healthcare institutions and evaluating the quality of medical services, the Health, Labour, and Social Affairs Committee conducted a field visit, on Saturday, to the Saudi German Hospital in Sharjah. The visit is part of an ongoing series of field visits aimed at assessing the healthcare landscape across the Emirate.

Committee Delegation and Hospital Welcome

The visit was led by Dr. Hind Saleh Al Hajri, the Committee’s rapporteur, and included committee members Dr. Ruqaya Al Zaabi, Ahmed Humaidi Al Ketbi, Essa Abdulrahim Al Zarouni, Ali Salem Al Shamsi, and Khalfan Saeed Al Masafri. They were accompanied by Dr. Islam Al Shiwi, Media Expert at the Council, and Sumayya Mohammed Jassim, the Committee Secretary.

The delegation was warmly received by hospital officials, including Dr.Yehia El Gabbani, Hospital Director; Dr. Talal Ali, Medical Director; Dr. Ahmed Saeed, Operations Manager; and Rasha Al Naqbi, Quality Specialist. The hosts provided an in-depth overview of the hospital’s services, specialties, and future expansion plans—most notably the establishment of outpatient clinics in Al Suyoh area of Sharjah.

Key Focus Areas of the Visit

The visit touched on various aspects of healthcare services, including emergency care, specialised medical teams, home healthcare, VIP services, and the hospital’s efforts to attract visiting medical consultants. Discussions also explored the hospital’s cooperation with the Sharjah Health Authority and the measures taken to ensure patient satisfaction and a comprehensive healthcare environment.

Emphasis on Collaboration and Best Practices

During the meeting, Dr. Hind Al Hajri emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Council and healthcare entities, particularly private hospitals, in order to promote shared efforts and adopt best practices in healthcare delivery. She highlighted the value of continuous communication with the private medical sector and the exchange of proposals to enhance community health in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Discussions on Emiratisation and Training Opportunities

Committee members addressed several important topics, including support for Emiratisation in the healthcare sector, increasing the training of Emirati medical professionals, and offering internships in cooperation with universities. They also discussed the potential expansion of services to central regions like Al Batayeh and Mleiha.

Hospital’s Commitment to Development and Global Partnerships

Hospital representatives expressed their appreciation for the Council’s visit and reaffirmed the Saudi German Hospital’s commitment to advancing healthcare services, expanding specialties, and building connections with international medical institutions—efforts aligned with Sharjah’s vision for a strong and inclusive healthcare system.

Concluding Tour and Positive Impressions

At the end of the visit, the committee toured various departments within the hospital, reviewing its medical capabilities and facilities. They praised the quality of services provided and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between the public and private healthcare sectors to ensure comprehensive and integrated care across the Emirate.
