The meeting was held at Wasit Wetland Centre, affiliated with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), a leading environmental landmark in the emirate.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Council, in the presence of Halima Humaid Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Council, and a number of heads of the Council's specialised committees, including Mohammed Ali Jaber Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions, and Complaints Committee; Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden, Chairman of the Financial, Economic, and Industrial Affairs Committee; Jassim Mohammed Al Hanawi Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Draft Recommendations Preparation Committee; Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Public Utilities Committee; Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Education, Culture, Media, and Youth Affairs Committee; Dr. Hind Saleh Al Hajri, Rapporteur of the Health, Labour, and Social Affairs Committee; and Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of the Council and Rapporteur of the Bureau, along with his assistants from the Council's General Secretariat.
Sharjah's vision for protecting biodiversity
The meeting began with an inspection tour of the reserve, during which His Excellency the Chairman of the Council and members were briefed on its unique facilities and the environmental and natural diversity it encompasses, reflecting the Emirate of Sharjah's vision for protecting biodiversity.
His Excellency the Chairman of the Council praised EPAA efforts in developing this distinguished environmental landmark.
During the meeting, the Bureau reviewed a number of important topics, including the ratification of the minutes of the third meeting held on February 17, 2025, as well as determining the dates of upcoming general sessions and their remaining topics during the current session, ensuring the continuity of oversight and legislative work according to a clear vision.
Enhancing institutional performance
The meeting also discussed the parliamentary issue submitted by His Excellency Member Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, discussing its themes and objectives within the framework of enhancing institutional performance and improving the work environment in the emirate.
The attendees also addressed the Council's preparations for the discussion of Sharjah Economic Development Department's policy, scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025. Discussions focused on the mechanisms for discussing the policy and the recommendations expected to be presented to enhance the economic environment and achieve sustainability.
Opening channels of effective communication with the community
In the same context, the Bureau reviewed a number of proposals submitted to the Council, both from members and the public, reflecting the Council's commitment to opening channels of effective communication with the community and involving it in local decision-making.
Constructive initiatives that serve the public interest
The meeting concluded with a discussion of new developments. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi affirmed that SCC will remain a vibrant parliamentary platform that reflects the citizens' pulse and aspirations, and supports the institutional work system in the Emirate of Sharjah under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Nuaimi praised the Council's ongoing interaction between its members and specialised committees, emphasising that the next phase will witness more serious discussions and constructive initiatives that serve the public interest and enhance the emirate's comprehensive development process.
