Al Thiqah Club joins international table tennis event in Jordan

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled team departed Friday for Jordan to participate in the International Table Tennis Championship for the Disabled, scheduled from April 13 to 15, 2025. The tournament brings together leading Arab and international clubs and teams.

Representing the UAE

The club's delegation includes player Thani Al Shehhi and coach Haitham Abras. Their participation is part of the club’s annual plan to support disabled sports and represent the UAE in international forums.

Preparation for major upcoming events

This championship serves as an important opportunity for the player to gain high-level competitive experience ahead of the World Endurance Games and the Asian Games.

Leadership highlights Club's mission

Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Board of Directors, emphasised that this participation showcases the club’s dedication to discovering and developing sports talent. He expressed pride in representing both Al Thiqah Club and the UAE national team in such a prestigious tournament.

Focus on talent development

Mohammed Abdullah Al Qaed Al Hammadi, Board Member and Chairman of the Technical and Talent Care Committee, praised the athlete’s preparation and performance, underlining the committee’s commitment to talent discovery and development. He affirmed the club’s continuous support, stating:

“We have great confidence in our champions to represent the club and the country in an honorable manner. We are committed to helping them become role models of determination and sporting excellence.”
