Sharjah 24: As part of the joint cooperation between the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) and the University of Sharjah (UoS), the six-month Professional Diploma for Leadership Development, called the "Elite Programme," successfully concluded.
Keeping pace with changes

This initiative came in response to the leadership's directives to develop human resources capable of meeting future challenges and keeping pace with changes efficiently.

Investing in human resources

The programme targeted 12 male and female employees from various branches of the department. It was designed to enhance leadership and decision-making skills, based on the belief in the importance of investing in human resources to achieve the department's strategic objectives. It also focused on building an integrated system for developing leadership skills and empowering employees to assume responsibilities effectively.

The programme was a remarkable success, contributing to the development of participants' skills at both the personal and professional levels, enhancing their ability to work collaboratively and manage organisational structures with flexibility and efficiency.

All participants demonstrated tangible improvements in their performance, appreciating the innovative training approach that focused on enhancing strengths and addressing areas for improvement, increasing their enthusiasm for applying the acquired skills in the workplace.
Preparing leaders capable of keeping pace with developments

The programme included a set of themes aimed at preparing leaders capable of keeping pace with developments and making informed decisions. Most notable among these themes were: anticipating the future and developing smart leadership strategies; enhancing strategic leadership in the age of technology and digital transformation; building high-performance teams and advancing executive leadership; managing performance and designing effective indicators to measure success; using data science to support strategic decisions; promoting innovation and designing transformational projects in the corporate environment; effectively managing risks and crises to enhance institutional readiness; and other specialised programmes.

Trainees underwent tests and assessments that measured their progress and ability to apply the acquired knowledge to ensure the achievement of the diploma's objectives.

"Professional Diploma in Executive Leadership Preparation"

At the end of the theoretical and practical study, and after completing all requirements, participants were awarded the "Professional Diploma in Executive Leadership Preparation" certificate from the University of Sharjah, which represents official recognition of their leadership skills.

In this context, Shaima Nabil Khalifa, Head of the Human Resources Department at the Department, emphasised that the programme's success reflects the Department's commitment to developing national cadres and equipping them with advanced skills to keep pace with institutional transformations and drive development.
Khalifa emphasised that effective institutional performance depends on the strength of leadership and its ability to make innovative strategic decisions, which enhances rapid response to change and supports the foundations of sustainable development.

Pioneering model of integrated training

Khalifa added that the programme represents a pioneering model of integrated training, combining academic education with practical training to empower participants to become influential in their fields of work and contribute to building a new generation of leaders capable of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.

With this successful conclusion, the programme continues to have a positive impact on the workplace, as participants look forward to applying what they have learned and contributing effectively to enhancing the efficiency of work teams and leading change within their organisations.
