This programme falls within SEDD’s initiatives to spread economic knowledge in educational institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah and support the educational process, in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
This programme was held as a part of the Department's social responsibility towards educational institutions in order to transfer economic knowledge to support universities and student cadres, and to link the practical reality in the Emirate with the theoretical and educational framework in universities and educational institutions in Sharjah. Therefore, SEDD received a team of students from Al Qasimia University for a period of two-month training programme, during which they were trained in economic research and held weekly sessions to guide research and explore outputs on the Emirate's economy.
Commenting on that, His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, stated that the Department focuses on strengthening its economic development work to sustainable and human development in 2025.
His Excellency explained that the Department pays great attention to the human development process through capacity building, skill development, keeping pace with modern scientific knowledge, and applying theoretical frameworks and scientific ideas to practical reality. This will further enhance economic performance, particularly in Sharjah, which focuses on the human and developmental dimensions, in accordance with the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Mahmoud added that the Department will continue to support entrepreneurship, develop national talent, improve market research, and enhance economic analysis mechanisms with educational institutions by linking Sharjah's educational institutions to local and international economic trends. This will create an informed generation capable of leading economic development in the emirate.
From his side, Dr. Amr Saleh, Economic Advisor at SEDD, clarified that the Department possesses knowledge, expertise, and distinguished cadres that qualify it to disseminate economic thought with educational institutions and human development programmes in Sharjah.
He added that the amount of economic information and market studies is transferred to the students through holding such programmes which allow the students and academic cadres to become familiar with the economic reality. Additionally, Dr. Amr illustrated that the students were monitored weekly until their research projects were completed within the Department, thus enhancing the role of educational institutions in linking them to the economic reality and preparing them to deal more effectively with practical life, better join the markets, and engage in economic activity.
