Sharjah 24: As part of its community efforts to enhance communication and support diverse segments of society, a delegation from Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) visited the Elderly Care Home, participating in “Khattar Al dar” (Visitors of the Home) initiative.

The initiative aims to bring joy and reassurance to the hearts of the elderly and appreciate their decades of dedication.

The delegation included members Dr. Hind Saleh Al Hajri, Dr. Ruqaya Al Zaabi, Issa Abdul Rahim Lazrouni, Hamad Obaid Al Hamoudi, and Ali Salem Khater Al Shamsi.

They were received by Maryam Al Qatari, Director of the Elderly Care Home, and staff at the home. The delegation was welcomed and praised for its support to the initiative, which the home implements annually during the holy month of Ramadan. The Council's presence reflects its commitment to supporting the elderly and addressing their needs.

Comprehensive care

Members toured the home and were briefed on the services provided, which include comprehensive medical and healthcare services of the highest standards, along with the necessary equipment and supplies to ensure the comfort of residents.

They also participated in Ramadan activities organised within the home, engaging in friendly conversations and recreational activities with the elderly, both men and women, creating an atmosphere of joy and family warmth.

They also shared the iftar meal with the home's residents, a gesture that reflects the noble humanitarian values promoted by the Emirate of Sharjah in all its institutions.

During the visit, SCC members emphasised that this visit affirms the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to pay special attention to the elderly, as they are the fathers and mothers who have contributed to building society and integrating this segment into society.

Promoting the values of social responsibility

This is particularly true within the framework of integrating roles to promote the values of cohesion, compassion, and social responsibility toward the elderly, and respect for them.

At the conclusion of the visit, the residents of the home expressed their happiness with this kind gesture by SCC and their keenness to care for them and their affairs. They thanked the council for this initiative, which affirmed that the elderly remain an integral part of the fabric of society.
