Sharjah 24: Sharjah Women's Sports Club delivered an outstanding performance in the second leg of the 2024/2025 Women's Volleyball League final, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over the American University in Dubai. The match took place at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club arena on Saturday, 15 March 2025.

This crucial win balanced the series after their first-leg defeat, pushing the championship into a decisive tiebreaker match. The upcoming showdown will be a pivotal challenge in the club’s quest for the league title.

Hanan Al Mahmoud: Mental preparation drove our success

Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice President of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, highlighted that the players’ strong performance stemmed from extensive mental preparation. She remarked:

“The key difference between our first-leg loss and today’s emphatic 3-0 victory was the players’ focused mental readiness. They underwent specialised sessions at the Sports Mental Preparation Centre, which enabled them to enter the match with confidence and dictate the pace from the outset. Their unwavering concentration ensured a composed and controlled performance throughout.”

She continued:

“A 3-0 win underscores how much our performance has evolved. I sincerely thank our devoted supporters, the foundation, and the club for their constant encouragement. This match was not only a stepping stone toward the final decider but also vital preparation for the Arab Women’s Sports Clubs Tournament in February, which will be another key test at the regional level.”

Mouza Al Shamsi: Team spirit and determination secured victory

Her Excellency Mouza Al Shamsi praised the players for their resilience, attributing the triumph to teamwork and perseverance:

“This crucial victory is a blessing and the result of our collective effort and unwavering support. From the outset, we worked on mentally equipping the players to move past their earlier defeat. We reassured them that they make us proud regardless of the result. Today, they displayed extraordinary resilience, widening the lead and controlling the match, even during tightly contested moments.”

Al Shamsi reaffirmed the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation’s full support for the team, stating:

“Our commitment to the team is absolute, with comprehensive mental preparation through dedicated centres like the Sports Medicine Centre and the Sports Mental Preparation Centre. These institutions play a crucial role in sharpening our players for high-stakes matches.”

She added:

“We are immensely proud of our players’ performance and will continue backing them at every stage. The enthusiastic crowd today demonstrated the strong bond with the team during this decisive phase of the championship. We hope to see even greater fan turnout, especially from younger supporters, in the upcoming matches.”

Dr. Dani Othman: Mental strength was the game-changer

Dr. Dani Othman, Director of the Sports Mental Preparation Centre at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, affirmed that the pre-match mental training focused on enhancing concentration and discipline. He emphasised that this preparation was a key factor in the 3-0 victory, adding that efforts will continue to reinforce the team’s mental strength ahead of the decisive match.
