Sharjah24: Maryam Al Qatari, Director of the Elderly Care Home of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), announced the " Khuttar Al-Dar" (The House's Visitors) programme, which would welcome guests from diverse segments of society, including individuals, government and commercial institutions. This yearly volunteer event takes place over the blessed month of Ramadan and consists of visiting the elderly, eating an Iftar meal with them, and participating in recreational programmes and activities for two hours at the care facility.
Al Qatari noted that the initiative's goal is to integrate the elderly into the community, strengthen ties, and reaffirm traditional values. These behaviours and ties have been and continue to be a long-time part of Emirati society.

She also emphasised the importance of this project in encouraging community cohesion and establishing communication with the elderly by spending time with them and listening to their lovely stories from the past, thereby benefiting from their wisdom and boundless contributions. They represent the previous generation, which was full of goodness and happiness.

Al Qatari stressed that this relationship has a tremendous impact on the spirits of the senior inhabitants and the visitors.
