Sharjah24: Milan lost to Bologna, 1-2, in a postponed match from the 9th round of the Italian Serie A.
Bologna turned the tables on their visitors Milan, coming back from a deficit to secure their first victory over the Lombardy team in Serie A since 2016, with a score of 2-1 in a rescheduled match from the ninth round.
Milan believed they were on track to recover from their disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Dutch club Feyenoord in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, which they exited after losing the first leg 0-1, and their recent loss to Torino 0-1. They took the lead with a beautiful goal from Portuguese player Rafael Leão, who received the ball from Mexican Santiago Giménez in the 43rd minute.
However, Bologna, coming off a loss to Parma, equalized at the start of the second half through Argentine Santiago Castro, who scored after receiving the ball from Giovanni Fabiani following a free kick in the 48th minute. Then, they snatched victory in the dying moments thanks to Swiss player Dan Ndoye, who converted the ball into the net after a cross from Nicolo Cambiaghi in the 82nd minute.
With this first win over Milan in front of their fans since March 10, 2002 (2-0) and their first win overall since defeating the "Rossoneri" 1-0 at San Siro on May 7, 2016, Bologna raised their points tally to 44, moving into sixth place ahead of Fiorentina (42) and behind Lazio in fifth (47). Meanwhile, Milan's points remained at 41, placing them eighth after suffering their seventh defeat of the season.
This loss for the team coached by Portuguese Sergio Conceição comes ahead of a tough match on Sunday in Milan against Lazio.
