Upon his arrival, Sheikh Nahyan was welcomed by Major General (Retired) Salem Ali Al Ghafli, Commander of the Support Units, along with senior officers and commanders of the Support Units.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan expressed appreciation for the strong support sports receive from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This support has been reflected in numerous regional and international sporting achievements.
Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the armed forces' efforts in providing a conducive environment for personnel to participate in competitions and sporting events. He praised the championship for showcasing youthful talent engaged in fair competition across various disciplines.
Sheikh Nahyan emphasised that the 13th Annual Shooting Competitions are an important milestone for both military and civilian sectors. These competitions foster a spirit of competition, improve marksmanship standards, and enhance participants' capabilities through a range of contests.
This year, 5,680 shooters participated in the championship, bringing the total number of participants over 12 years to more than 67,000. The qualifying rounds took place at four shooting clubs: Al Reef Club in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Shooting Range, Masfout Shooting Range, and Fujairah Shooting Range, featuring 27 competitions across various shooting disciplines.
In conclusion, Sheikh Nahyan honored the winners of the shooting competitions, congratulated them, and expressed his sincere thanks to all involved in organising the event. He wished participants success in future competitions.
