Sharjah24: On the second day of the Xposure International Photography Festival, the International Film Awards were distributed in a ceremony attended by His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) and Alia Bu Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB).
Celebrating animation: Andrés Aguilar
Andrés Aguilar, a producer from Ecuador, expressed his joy after winning the Xposure Film Award in the animation category. "For me, winning this award is a huge success, and I am really happy to be here in Sharjah," Aguilar stated. He highlighted the festival as a significant event in the photography world, noting its role in showcasing important stories. "For us, it is also a great opportunity to expand and present our story about immigration, which is very relevant in these times," he added. "We are really happy and so glad to be here."
Spotlight on documentary filmmaking: Jurgen Buedts
Jurgen Buedts, a filmmaker from Belgium, also took the stage to celebrate his success. "I am happy to be here and to win the top award for my documentary featuring Latif Al Ani, an important photographer from Iraq," he shared. Buedts emphasised the significance of the recognition for Latif's work, stating, "The main concern of Latif is to be recognised globally for his contributions." He concluded, "This award really means a lot for the film and the testimony of Latif."
