Sharjah 24: Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani made history by saving three consecutive penalties, propelling his team to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2.

Record-breaking performance in penalty shootout

Sharjah secured a 3-0 penalty win against Jordan’s Al Hussein Irbid on Tuesday at Sharjah Stadium. The match had ended 1-0 in favor of Al Hussein during regular and extra time, resulting in a 1-1 aggregate score after Sharjah's 1-0 win in the first leg. Al Hosani’s three penalty saves led Sharjah to the quarter-finals for the second time in the club's history, the first being in 2004.

Al Hosani's historic achievement

This was the first time Al Hosani had saved three penalty kicks in a single match. Reflecting on his accomplishment, he credited focus, luck, and teammate support for his success.

Stellar season performance

In the 2024 ADNOC Professional League season, Al Hosani played 14 matches, keeping 10 clean sheets and saving 23 shots on goal, further showcasing his exceptional form.
