His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al-Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, hailed the achievement as a testament to the University’s ongoing pursuit of academic excellence, made possible by the unwavering support of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah.
He highlighted that the Arab Universities Ranking is one of the most significant regional university ranking awards, employing criteria and indicators tailored to the cultural and social contexts of Arab societies. Achieving this prestigious position among Arab universities, he noted, is a culmination of sustained academic and research efforts at the University and aligns with its performance in international rankings, including those of the Times Higher Education and the UIGreen Metric, which evaluates universities based on their commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. These achievements, he added, reaffirm the University of Sharjah’s status as a distinguished global academic hub for the dissemination of knowledge and advanced research.
Prof. Esam Agamy, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation, further underscored the significance of the forum, which served as a platform to highlight the role of universities in driving sustainable development through scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic partnerships. Discussions at the forum covered key topics such as the role of universities in human capital development and the knowledge economy, their function as catalysts for economic growth, and their leadership in the transition to a global knowledge-based economy. Other focal points covered at the forum included innovation mechanisms, knowledge integration, and institutional structures that support sustainable development. The event also provided an opportunity for academics, policymakers, and experts to engage in meaningful dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in the fields of education, economics, and the environment.
