Sharjah24: Chelsea's football team has been eliminated from the FA Cup after losing 1-2 to host Brighton in the fourth round.
Early advantage wasted
Chelsea failed to capitalise on an early lead when Brighton's Bert Verbruggen scored an own goal just five minutes into the match. However, the home team quickly equalized with a goal from Georginio Rutter in the 12th minute.
Brighton seals victory
In the second half, Brighton secured their spot in the next round with a goal from Kaoru Mitoma in the 57th minute. This victory allowed Brighton to avenge their earlier 2-4 defeat to Chelsea in the sixth round of the Premier League this season.
Pressure mounts on Chelsea
Chelsea has now lost two titles this season, having previously exited the Round of 16 in the EFL Cup after a defeat to Newcastle United, who progressed to face Liverpool in the final scheduled for March. The pressure is mounting on Chelsea and their coach, Enzo Maresca, as the London team has dropped to fourth place in the Premier League, now 13 points behind league leaders Liverpool after 24 rounds of the competition.
