SPEA honours winners of the 2nd Education Pioneers competition

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) celebrated the winners of the second “Education Pioneers” competition, organised by EduFikra Company, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of Sharjah Education Academy (SEA), in the presence of senior educational officials, members of the evaluation committees, strategic partners and honourees.
97 Arabic language teachers, representing 41 schools from across the UAE

The second edition saw the participation of 97 Arabic language teachers, representing 41 schools from across the UAE, while the largest participation came from the Emirate of Dubai with 17 schools, followed by the Emirate of Sharjah with 15 schools, then the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with 9 schools, where 33 teachers managed to reach the semi-final stage, reflecting the high level of competition and excellence that characterised this edition.

The first edition of the competition was launched in December 2022, targeting Arabic language teachers in the ministerial curriculum for the first cycle from first grade to fourth grade, and its activities concluded with honouring the winners at the annual Education Pioneers Forum in May 2023. The second edition saw an expansion in its fields and categories, as it also targeted diverse curricula for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, in line with the vision of the wise government, the Ministry of Education and educational institutions towards enhancing innovation and sustainability of education.

Mr. Taher Ahmed Al Mahrazi, Director of the Administrative Affairs Sector at SPEA, said in a speech during the ceremony that the authority is proud of the teachers who have achieved these distinguished accomplishments in the Education Pioneers Competition, noting that their continuous support for teachers and providing a stimulating educational environment reflects the Authority's commitment to developing the quality of education, stressing in this context the importance of enhancing the status of the Arabic language as an authentic and important language in the cultural identity of the UAE, expressing his admiration for the distinguished level witnessed by this session of the competition, and the pivotal role it plays in developing the educational process.

Empowering teachers

Engineer Mona Al Nahdi, Founder and CEO of EduFikra, also confirmed in her speech during the honouring ceremony that the Education Pioneers Competition is one of the most prominent initiatives launched by EduFikra to empower male and female teachers, in support of and advancement of methods of teaching Arabic language curricula in the UAE, which contributes to the continuous improvement of the educational process.

The winning teachers were selected after an evaluation process based on specific criteria by a committee that included a group of academics and educators, where teacher Iman Muhammad Badran from Al Nahda Schools won National Girls won first place in the category of “Leading Arabic Language Teacher for Native Speakers”. Teacher Ahmed Abdel Aziz Mohamed Tawfiq from Dubai Schools - Al Barsha won first place in the category of “Leading Arabic Language Teacher for Non-Native Speakers”. In the category of “Leading Arabic Language Department”, Al Huwaitin School won first place in recognition of its distinguished efforts in developing methods of teaching the Arabic language.

The competition saw great support from strategic partners, including the Teachers Association, Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, University of Sharjah, the Arabic Language Protection Association, and the International Federation for the Arabic Language. The “Kam Kalima” platform also contributed to sponsoring this pioneering initiative.
