The visit comes as part of the committee's plans for the second regular session of the eleventh legislative term, with the aim of reviewing the academy's efforts in developing education and training in the emirate.
The visit is part of the efforts of the Education Committee of the Consultative Council to support educational institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, identify the challenges they face, and work to overcome them to achieve the emirate's vision of being a leading educational hub at the regional level.
The visit was headed by Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Committee, in the presence of Committee members Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al Naqbi, Committee Rapporteur; Kaltham Saif Al Tunaiji; Sheikha Khalfan Al Dhain Al Naqbi; and Yousef Mohammed Al Mazrouei. In addition to Huda Al Hammadi, Secretary of the Committee.
The delegation was received by Khawla Ahmed Al Hosani, Deputy Director of SEA, along with department directors and those concerned with the Academy.
During the visit, the Academy’s most prominent achievements and strategic goals in developing education and training were presented, as Khawla Al Hosani provided a detailed explanation of the Academy’s four tracks, academic programmes, professional development, scientific research, and Sharjah government nurseries.
Al Hosani indicated that SEA was established in 2020 as a training body that aims to develop education through three main tracks, academic, training, and research.
Al Hosani also emphasised the Academy’s role in supporting future readiness by qualifying teachers to face the challenges of the twenty-first century, and empowering them through advanced and accredited training programmes.
Al Hosani touched on the global partnership that the Academy has concluded with prestigious educational institutions such as the University of Helsinki and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, in addition to cooperation with Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) in training teachers and improving the quality of education in the emirate.
The Academy’s efforts in the field of scientific research were also reviewed, as it is working to launch the first research study in cooperation with international universities, and plans to issue a research journal that links educational research and educational practices.
Maitha Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Government Nurseries, indicated that the Academy’s nurseries operate with a 100% Emiratisation rate, with a focus on developing the educational environment for children and providing high-quality services. Al Shamsi stressed the importance of early detection of educational and health challenges in children, and cooperation with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services in this field.
During the visit, a number of visions and inquiries were presented by members of the Education Committee in the field of the Academy’s specialisation, aiming to contribute to enhancing the quality of education and serving the community more broadly.
At the end of the visit, Sheikha Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Committee, praised SEA efforts in developing education and training, stressing the importance of cooperation between the Academy and SCC to achieve common goals in serving the educational community in the emirate.
