Sharjah24: Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), confirmed that the Sharjah International Conservation Forum for Arabian Biodiversity (SICFAB) commenced on Monday, at Sharjah Safari, and will continue for four days. She added that the forum addresses very important topics, among which are the red lists for reptiles and amphibians, as well as dolphins and whales. It also attracts university students who have conducted scientific research to present their studies and findings.
She noted that the SICFAB has a 24-year history of excellence and prosperity, having established a very important database for birds, reptiles, plants, and mammals. This is crucial for forming a baseline for endangered species in the environments of the Arabian Peninsula, in addition to creating a distinguished network of experts, enthusiasts, and university students.
Her Excellency Hana Al Suwaidi emphasised the important role of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), resulting from the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, may God preserve and protect him. She highlighted that there are now more than 13 natural reserves, distinguished eco-tourism centers, surveys, and studies, and that they have managed to create a database for the red list of endangered species in the environment of the Arabian Peninsula.
