The MoU was signed by Prof. Hamid Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and on behalf of ICESCO, by Salem Omar Salem, Director of the Organization’s Regional Office in Sharjah.
In his remarks, Professor Hamid Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University, emphasized that the memorandum aligns with the University of Sharjah's vision to strengthen its role as a premier educational institution committed to scientific research. He highlighted the aim of fostering positive change in education, culture, and science by opening new avenues for collaboration and the exchange of experiences and knowledge. This initiative not only benefits students and the academic community but also plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development overall.
Al Nuaimi highlighted that the collaboration with ISESCO will create new opportunities for students and faculty through training and academic exchange programs, as well as joint scientific research initiatives. This partnership is set to bolster the development of students’ practical and scientific skills while also enhancing the research capabilities of faculty members. Ultimately, it supports the university’s journey towards achieving academic and research excellence on both regional and international stages.
Salem Omar Salem, Director of the Organization’s Regional Office in Sharjah, emphasized that this cooperation marks a fresh starting point for strengthening ties with the University of Sharjah, renowned for its critical role in higher education and scientific research. The partnership will encompass a range of projects aimed at fostering cultural exchange and solidifying academic and scientific relationships among countries within the Islamic world, reflecting the Organization’s vision of being a beacon of global knowledge.
This partnership is built on a shared vision aimed at fostering integration and collaboration between academic institutions and international organizations. The goal is to boost innovation and scientific research while creating a unique model that addresses the challenges facing the Islamic world. The memorandum outlines plans to enhance cooperation in education and training, with a focus on developing joint programs in science, technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, it includes efforts to support scientific research by assisting graduate students and providing studies and consultations in areas of mutual interest. In terms of language and cultural development, there will be collaboration with the Language Institute at the University of Sharjah to promote Islamic culture and improve Arabic language teaching programs for non-native speakers.
The memorandum also includes the establishment of the "ISESCO Chair", which specializes in the field of heritage and artificial intelligence, which will receive support from countries, organizations and businessmen. The memorandum pays special attention to the professional development of students, as it will provide periodic training programs and opportunities to participate in the organization's projects. It will also work to enhance job opportunities for graduates by linking them to a wide network of opportunities in the Islamic world. Within the framework of enhancing international cooperation, the memorandum will provide the opportunity for mutual participation in diplomatic visits and tours, in addition to organizing joint scientific conferences and forums. Work will also be done to establish a network that links graduates of the University of Sharjah with their counterparts in universities in the Islamic world, which will enhance opportunities for professional and academic cooperation at the international level.
