Sharjah 24: The February 2025 issue of Al Rafid magazine, published by the Sharjah Department of Culture, underscores the Emirate of Sharjah's increasing presence in research and scientific fields. Through various academic and research projects, Sharjah continues to strengthen its position locally, regionally, and globally.

Youth leadership and the role of education

The issue opens with an overview of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah’s reception of participants in the inaugural Gulf Bridges - Gulf Youth Leadership Programme at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre. His Highness imparted advice to the youth on developing a strong personality rooted in knowledge, history, and self-awareness.

Honouring research and academic excellence

Al Rafid also highlights Sharjah's commitment to promoting research, particularly in language and its preservation. This is exemplified by His Highness's support for linguistic research and honoring the winners of the Sharjah Award for Linguistic and Lexical Studies. Additionally, the magazine announces a new world record for Sharjah, as the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language was recognised by the Guinness World Records as the largest linguistic project in history.

Academic growth and healthcare innovation

The magazine further emphasises Sharjah's academic advancements, with the University of Sharjah leading the way in healthcare education. The institution has introduced new courses in physical therapy and nursing, contributing to a rise in student enrollment and preparing students for future challenges in healthcare.

Cultural and scientific events

In addition to academic achievements, the magazine covers various cultural and scientific events that have taken place across Sharjah, reinforcing the city's status as a global hub for culture, creativity, and excellence. The issue celebrates Sharjah's role in organising conferences and cultural events that contribute to its leadership in the Arab world.
