This annual event will be held in the Chadli City of Culture in the Tunisian Republic from February 1 to 8, organized by the National Centre for Puppetry Arts. The festival features a wide participation from the Rubu’ Qarn Centre for Theatre and Performing Arts, a member of “Sharjah Capabilities Development,” alongside various Arab and international participants.
The delegation will showcase two theatrical performances: "Chairs" and "Melting." In "Chairs," the performers symbolize the chair as a representation of an ambitious and passionate individual striving to attain a prestigious position in society. Meanwhile, "Melting" explores the conflicts between two identical twins with contrasting interests and personalities, leading to a whirlwind of captivating and dramatic events.
Hamad Juma, a member of the Rubu’ Qarn Centre for Theatre and Performing Arts, shared his experience: “From the start, we aimed to give the puppet a piece of our soul. In puppetry, we’ve learned that the first step in bringing a puppet to life is to imbue it with our own emotions and feelings, allowing it to move and express itself as if it were a part of us.” Nour Jassim, another festival participant, added: “Being part of this festival is a great honor for us as children of Sharjah. We hope to raise the name of our beloved emirate in both local and international arenas.”
Nearly 40 years ago, specifically in 1985, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, launched a cultural initiative aimed at investing in people. The project focused on establishing centers across the emirate’s suburbs to provide children and adolescents with a safe environment where they could explore their interests, develop their talents, and grow their abilities.
Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, further contributed to this vision by founding the Rub’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators. As the first Arab and regional foundation of its kind, Rub’ Qarn works closely with society to build informed and influential generations. Through diverse programs and activities, the foundation enriches the knowledge, experiences, and skills of individuals over a 25-year journey, which inspired the foundation’s name, "Rub’ Qarn."
The foundation includes the following institutions:
