Sharjah 24: Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Chair of the Economic Committee at the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), stated that the council has approved its recommendations regarding the policy of the Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority.

This came during its eighth session of the second regular term of the 11th legislative session.

Supporting the ports, customs, and free zones sector

The council discussed several recommendations aimed at supporting the ports, customs, and free zones sector, as well as the development of ports in various areas, with a particular focus on Khorfakkan, which has become an attractive hub for investments.

In an interview with "Sharjah 24," Al Muqarrab added that council members emphasised the importance of restructuring the Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority to strengthen its integrated national investment system.

Aligns with the Emirate's vision

This would align with the Emirate's vision, positioning Sharjah as a leading strategic investment destination in the global economic arena.

Supporting the national economy and creating an investment-friendly environment

The council's recommendations also called for the continued efforts of the authority in supporting the national economy and creating an investment-friendly environment in line with global best practices.

They also highlighted the authority's commitment to environmental sustainability, ensuring the preservation of natural resources through its operational standards.

Underscored the importance of collaborating with universities and academies

Furthermore, the council underscored the importance of collaborating with universities and academies to train students in the specialised fields required by the authority, in order to build a skilled national workforce.
