Sharjah24: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced plans to hold a competition for the most captivating photo coverage of the “Pearl of the East Coast” festival, set to debut at Kalba Hanging Gardens this month. The festival is organised by the Chamber and will take place from January 24 to 26, 2025.

The competition aims to encourage photography and art enthusiasts to showcase their creativity while highlighting the cultural and heritage themes of the festival, as well as promoting Kalba's unique tourist attractions and rich environmental diversity.

The Sharjah Chamber invites participants to produce a one-minute video documenting the festival's vibrant atmosphere, including cultural and artistic performances and entertainment and sports activities, alongside the stunning natural scenery of Kalba city.

Amal Al Hosani, head of the Media and Marketing Department at SCCI and Chairperson of the Media Committee of the Pearl of the East Coast Festival, said that the competition aspires to create a significant platform for photographers and artists across the UAE to unleash their talents and engage with the festival in a distinctive way.

“This initiative features the unique ambiance of the festival and sheds light on Kalba's distinctive landmarks along with its cultural and heritage aspects. Participants are encouraged to capture events that reflect local customs and traditions, including traditional attire, handicrafts, and unique cultural activities,” she added.

Al Hosani noted that the competition will run over three days, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a total prize pool of AED 30,000. Five winners will be selected from among the participants each day.

As for the competition requirements, participants must create a one-minute video about the festival’s various events and activities, follow the Sharjah Chamber’s Instagram account, and tag the Chamber’s account in the competition announcement post.

Additionally, participants are required to share the video on their accounts with a mention of the SCCI’s account, and their account must be set to “public” to enable access to all submissions. Participation in the competition is limited to the UAE’s residents.
