Sharjah 24: Egyptian theatre director Nasser Abdel Moneim highlighted the significant impact of the Arab Theatre Festival, which, over its 15 sessions, has become a vital platform for Arab theatre practitioners. It serves as a space where they can share their diverse experiences, engage in dialogue, and discover the latest creative trends across various Arab countries.

Abdel Moneim noted that this year’s festival, taking place in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, showcases a series of meaningful performances that bring together young directors and seasoned theatre artists. This generational exchange fosters creativity, collaboration, and a renewed passion among theatre professionals.

In an interview with “Sharjah 24,” he remarked that the strong representation from numerous Arab nations in this edition is a promising development. It creates an important dialogue and motivates artists to push their creative boundaries, especially as they vie for the distinguished award from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, honoring the best Arab theatrical performance. He expressed appreciation for the Arab Theater Authority’s efforts in organizing the festival annually, which encourages continual creativity within the theatre community.

He further emphasized that the involvement of young directors in the Egyptian and Bahraini productions signals a bright future for Arab theatre. Young directors play a crucial role in advancing the field, ensuring its growth and relevance, and enhancing the presence of Arab theatre on the global stage.
