Yousef Eidabi highlights Arab-Chinese cooperation at ATF

Sharjah 24: Dr Yousef Eidabi, the intellectual field official for the 15th Arab Theatre Festival in Oman, shared that the festival's intellectual conference began on Saturday by focusing on Oman's theatrical history and the personal journey of Omani director and playwright Dr Abdul Karim Jawad, spanning from the 1980s to the present.

Omani-Arab interaction and recommendations for theatre development

Eidabi emphasised that the first day of the conference highlighted Omani theater books discussing early and contemporary theatrical writing. This prompted positive Arab-Omani interactions and led to recommendations for increased communication and collaboration among various theater groups. The aim is to shift from a focus on quantity to improving quality in performance, writing, criticism, and applied criticism.

Exploring Arab and Chinese theatre experiences and Artificial Intelligence

The conference's second and third-day discussions explored the merging of Arab and Chinese theater experiences, aiming to form a shared vision. Eidabi noted that the role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in the development of theater was a significant topic. This includes AI’s influence on playwriting, directing, acting, scenography, and the overall theatrical experience. He stressed the importance of raising awareness within the Arab theatre community about these technological advances, ensuring that they enhance the theatrical process while respecting human expertise.
