Al Bataeh Branch is one of the main partners in the festival that targets all members of society.
Dr. Abdullah bin Hamoda Al Ketbi, Director of Mleiha Branch and Acting Director of Al Bataeh Branch, said that SSSD is keen to participate annually in all sessions of the festival with a number of events and workshops that provide benefits to the public from the Al Bataeh Branch. He added that the festival is one of the largest events in the region that receives the people of Al Bataeh and neighbouring areas and is one of the winter festivals that enjoys wide participation from governmental, semi-governmental and private institutions and entities.
Bin Hamoda pointed out that SSSD participation is divided into 3 sections, including a corner to introduce the Department of Social Services, its role, centres, departments, branches, and the services assigned to it towards members of society. In this corner, free health measurement services are provided by a doctor and a nurse who are present throughout the festival days. There is also a corner for productive families in Al Bataeh who benefit from the department’s services and are registered in its “Production” Centre. They offer a variety of popular foods, sweets, clothes, perfumes, and other home-made products. There is also the participation of craftswomen affiliated with the Al Asalah Club, who present traditional heritage crafts shows to the public.
During the festival days, workshops and competitions are presented on the main stage designated for children, as well as competitions and puzzles, under the supervision of the Social Education Department, which also offers educational and awareness programmes revolving around family cohesion, self-development, and other human, national, and societal values. Volunteers from the Sharjah Centre for Voluntary Work also participate in organising the festival.
