Sharjah24: The Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cup race for the 2024/2025 season commenced today at Sharjah Longines Racecourse. Organised by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club (SERC) and sponsored by Longines, the official sponsor of the racing season, the event is supported by the Sharjah Sports Council.
The competition features 94 horses, including purebred Arabian horses, locally bred horses, and thoroughbreds, with an additional 20 horses on reserve. The total prize pool for the race amounts to AED 400,000.
The event was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, Sultan Mohammed Khalifa Al Yahyai, Director General of the SERC, and Patrick Aoun, Regional Director of Longines.`
The winners of the four rounds were honoured by Sultan Mohammed Khalifa Al Yahyai and Patrick Aoun.
In the fifth and main race, “the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cup”, the horse Street Mood owned by Jumaa Mubarak Al Junaibi claimed victory.
The awards for this race were presented by Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi and Sultan Mohammed Al Yahyai.
