Sharjah 24 – WAM: Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, has reported that babies in the Gaza Strip are freezing to death due to harsh cold conditions and a lack of proper shelter.

Supplies stuck in Gaza, awaiting approval
Lazzarini further explained that essential items such as blankets, mattresses, and winter supplies have been stuck in the region for months, waiting for approval to enter Gaza.

Urgent call for ceasefire and supply delivery
He stressed the immediate need for basic supplies, including winter necessities, and reiterated the urgent call for an immediate ceasefire to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.

WFP warns of widespread hunger in Gaza
The World Food Programme (WFP) has also raised alarm about the escalating hunger crisis in Gaza, stating that it has only been able to deliver about one-third of the necessary food supplies to support the population.

Call for safe access and ceasefire
The WFP reaffirmed its call for safe and sustained access to Gaza, alongside the restoration of law and order, and once again emphasized the critical need for a ceasefire.
