Sharjah 24 – AFP: Two US Navy pilots were shot down over the Red Sea on Sunday in an apparent case of "friendly fire," according to the US military.
The incident occurred when the USS Gettysburg, a guided missile cruiser, mistakenly fired on an F/A-18 fighter jet launched from the USS Harry S. Truman.

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels later claimed responsibility for an operation that targeted the USS Harry S. Truman, stating they shot down an F-18 aircraft.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that both pilots were rescued alive, with one sustaining minor injuries. They clarified that the incident was not caused by hostile fire, and an investigation is ongoing.
