Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), announced during the celebration held, on Monday, in the Heart of Sharjah, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the SIH, the launch of the first heritage conference under the theme “Heritage Cities in the Arab World”, which aims to discuss issues of urban heritage and highlight the importance of preserving heritage cities in the Arab world.
His Excellency reported the launch of the first heritage conference under the slogan “Heritage Cities in the Arab World”, which aims to discuss issues related to urban heritage and enhance Sharjah’s position as a city that embraces world and urban heritage. 

This event coincides with the celebration of the first decade of the establishment of the SIH, which has achieved many notable achievements in the field of heritage protection and promotion over the past 10 years.

His Excellency in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24", indicated that the conference represents a platform for discussion and intellectual exchange between experts and specialists in the field of heritage, which contributes to developing future visions for preserving heritage cities in the Arab world, stressing that the SIH will continue to work to achieve its vision in protecting heritage and highlighting its role as a basic component of the identity of peoples.

His Excellency added that the past 10 years were full of achievements that contributed to the development and protection of cultural and urban heritage in the Emirate of Sharjah and beyond. 

The conference also witnessed the honouring of a number of writers who contributed to enriching the Arab heritage library with more than 1,000 books, in a step that reflects appreciation for culture and creativity that supports efforts to preserve heritage.
