Sharjah24: The Friends of Arthritis Patients, in collaboration with the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, hosted the Second Rheumatologists Forum 2024. This event was strategically partnered with the Emirates Health Services and the Gulf Association for Immunology and Rheumatology. The forum brought together a distinguished group of doctors and specialists with the goal of discussing the latest scientific and therapeutic advancements in arthritis, enhancing community awareness about these conditions, and offering guidance on the prevention, treatment, and management of arthritis.
This forum is part of the ongoing activities surrounding World Arthritis Day, organized by the Association. Notable attendees included Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department; Wahida Abdulaziz, President of FOAP; Dr. Suad Hanawi, the forum’s Scientific Committee Head and a Consultant in Rheumatology; and Dr. Nour Al Muhairi, Director of the EHS Mental Health Department. The event also welcomed numerous doctors, specialists, and community members.

Wahida Abdulaziz emphasised that hosting this forum showcases the association's commitment to advancing its mission, inspired by the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. The aim is to raise health awareness about joint diseases, their symptoms, and treatment options, while also enhancing healthcare services for arthritis patients to meet leading international standards. She pointed out that this year alone, the association successfully organized over 15 awareness lectures presented by various doctors and specialists.

Wahida highlighted the significance of the forum as part of a series of events launched by the association in celebration of World Arthritis Day. It serves as a valuable scientific platform for medical professionals to share insights and experiences regarding the latest health and therapeutic developments related to arthritis. The forum also aimed to provide the community with a thorough understanding of arthritis, its causes, and preventive measures. She expressed gratitude to all participants and healthcare professionals for their contributions to the forum’s success.

The forum featured broad community participation and included three dialogue sessions in which doctors discussed topics such as rheumatoid arthritis and the critical nature of early diagnosis for patients with rheumatic diseases. They also covered available treatment options, the relationship between psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis, chronic diseases associated with psoriasis, osteoporosis, inflammatory back pain, and when patients should consult a rheumatologist. The discussions also delved into how rheumatism patients can manage their condition effectively alongside other health issues.
