Al Ameri stated that the festival will feature screenings of independent and experimental films from around the world. She emphasised the significant role cinema plays in shaping culture and society, highlighting the importance of this year’s programme.
She told Sharjah 24 that the festival will also pay tribute to Syrian director Mohammad Malas, known for his impactful films that delve into the modern history of Syria and its neighbouring countries. The Sharjah Film Platform will feature three of his influential works: The Dream, The Night, and Oh Father, I Am Youssef.
Additionally, Al Ameri highlighted the introduction of the “Support Fund” grant, offering half a million dirhams to a UAE-based filmmaker to complete a feature film.
The public is invited to enjoy the diverse range of screenings over the ten-day event.
